A legacy is a reflection of the values, beliefs, and contributions someone leaves behind, whether through their actions, their achievements, or the way they inspire others. It has less to do with material wealth and more to do with a life of purpose and fulfillment. A strong legacy can shape communities, inspire change, and create a foundation for those who come after—ensuring that the essence of who you are continues to resonate and guide others after you are gone.
Our hope is that you will be inspired by the legacies that these families will share through their stories here. What legacy will you leave?
For the Robersons, leaving a legacy is less about a financial gift to their loved ones and more about inspiring their children and grandchildren to develop a deep and meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. They share their focus on putting God and others first, and they hope this legacy grounded in faith and love will thrive for generations to come.
What inspired you to focus on leaving a legacy?
We have worked hard to be able to enjoy our retirement years, and we definitely want to leave a monetary inheritance to our children and grandchildren. But the legacy we really want to leave is more about what we leave IN our children and grandchildren than what we leave TO them. Above all else, we want them to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. To not just know about Him but to personally KNOW HIM.
We have always attempted to base our core values on God first, relationships with family and others second, and then careers and everything else next. Keeping that balance was challenging in different season of_ our lives, but the one thing that never changed was keeping
God first. He comes first in everything we do and every decision we make.
We believe life should never be just about ourselves. If you want JOY in your life, it should be:
J – Jesus first
0 – Others second
Y – You last
When have you felt you made a lasting impact on someone’s life?
We have tried to serve others, whether it be serving in our local church, serving with the homeless, making hospital calls every week to pray for the sick or serving weekly at an assisted living center where we call Bingo, bake a special dessert for them every week, make each one feel special as we celebrate their birthdays, and then give a devotion where we share the Word of God and take prayer requests. The only thing we can take to heaven with us is people, so we have purposely tried to build relationships by showing people that we truly care about them and, more importantly, letting them know how much Jesus loves and cares about them.
Reflecting on the life challenges you have faced, what key lessons have you learned, and how have they shaped you?
Unexpected health challenges can open your eyes to what’s important in life quickly. Mike had a moderate to severe stroke in May of 2023, and I had a pulmonary artery rupture in April of 2019 that caused me to almost bleed to death in a matter of seconds and left me with a collapsed lung. In January of 2020, the bottom part of my heart stopped working, and I had emergency surgery for a pacemaker and defibrillator. Our faith led us to miraculous healings and supernatural recoveries. And to see us today—it’s doubtful anyone would know our story almost ended early.
We have found God to be faithful in every season of our life. Whether it was our careers, our finances, raising children, spending time with our grandchildren, dealing with personal health challenges or becoming caregivers to our elderly parents, the one thing that has remained constant is our faith in Jesus Christ. There is nothing more import to us, and that is what we want to pass on to our children and grandchildren.
What advice do you have for future generations about living a meaningful life?
We’ve always told our kids and grandkids to cherish the memories they have in life. Things can change quickly, but our memories can be held onto forever. We pray that they always know that we loved them unconditionally and that when they think about us, it puts a smile on their face and heart as they remember all the fun things we did with them. From special days on their birthdays to vacations and sleepovers, Nani’s fried chicken dinners, feeding the squirrels at Woodward Park, and lots of swim days and holidays full of games, food, and laughter.
What we want our children, grandchildren, and friends and families to remember us by is our love for God and family, an unwavering faith in the Word of God and the desire to please our Savior above everything else in life.
Our advice to anyone is: Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33
