Fees - How Much Does It Cost?

Full disclosure of costs is always a discussion we have with new clients. We work closely with each client in aiming to minimize the impact of costs on their investment goals. Unfortunately, there is no simple answer to this question. Each client's need and portfolio is different. The basic brokerage account will hold stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Stock transactions have a $5.00 transaction fee plus a commission fee set by LPL Financial, typically in the 1.5 to 2% range. A managed money account through LPL Financial (OMP or SAM) is charged a flat percentage of assets to manage the portfolio. That percentage is determined by the amount of assets in the account and is agreed upon prior to establishing an account (typically in the 1.5 to 2% range.) People are not necessarily looking for the cheapest advisor just as they would not shop for the cheapest doctor. They just want an honest and upfront disclosure of cost. Costs, charges and other fees will vary based on transaction and account type.
